Book provides a view of the battlefields of WW I through the eyes of the average fighting man. 265 pp. plus Index. Book has introduction that covers these topics: Spirit of pilgrimage, How to travel, How to use this book. Book is illustrated with 14 photographs. Laid in is advertisement for "Scar 77" and "Warrior", both books by Hutchison. Book is thus dedicated: From L. N. Wadlin to Sid Kidd. A souvenir of the Vimy Pilgrimage July26/'36". Lorenzo N. Wadlin was born in Beaver Harbour, New Brunswick in 1883 (1906 Census) graduated as a Civil Engineer (UNB) in 1908. He obtained his commission as a Dominion Land Surveyor (DLS) in1913. Wadlin Lake near Fort Vermillion, Alberta was surveyed by him and has carried his name since 1916. He enlisted in 1915 and returned from overseas in 1919. He steamed from Montreal on the Montcalm on July 16, 1936 for the dedication ceremonies of the new monument at Vimy Ridge on April 26 which became the occassion of the gift of this book to Mr. Kidd. Mr. Wadlin died in 1954. He is the donor of the L.N. Wadlin Scholarship in Mathematics at Carleton University, as well as the Lorenzo N. Wadlin Scholarship in Mechanical Engineering at his alma mater, UNB. Unclipped DJ is edge worn and chipped and spine is soiled (darkened) An artifact of Canadian Military History.
