Item description from seller

At some point, long ago, this copy has had some professional restoration but I am not sure how much. The original leather spine containing a black rectangular box with a gilt lettered title has been laid down on a cloth binding with reinforcement at top and bottom of spine. The endpapers appear to be original and the book is square with a secure binding. I think newer cloth covers have been placed over an original quarterbound leather binding, though the leather spine was preserved. There is a light musty odor from storage but overall this is a solid copy. Some wear to edges and corners. See scan. Overall this copy is G+. ; Large 8vo 9" - 10" tall; 422 pages; When this planter's guide was published in the US, planters in the South still owned slaves.
