Ryle's volume of scholarship on Plato, including his own argument for the "correct" dating of Plato's dialogues. Ryle also puts forth his own conception of the relationship between Aristotle and Plato, and argues that the true purpose of Plato's dialogue, Apology, was for Plato to defend himself against defamation charges of important Athenian figures. A unique examination of Plato's life and work by a significant analytic philosopher. A Near Fine book with a name on the front flyleaf and a small University of Toronto Press sticker on the front pastedown; jacket's front flap is clipped but is otherwise Fine.
