AT PLAY OF THE FIELDS OF THE LORD PETER MATTHIESSEN 1965 1ST EDITION DUST JACKET. Quoting from the flap of the dust jacket: The setting of this wild, beautiful and haunting novel is the Amazon jungle, at one majestic and malevolent; the principal characters are four fundamentalist missionaries and a soldier of fortune; and the plot concerns their fanatical conflict over the fate of a primitive and dangerous tribe of jungle Indians. This small hard cover book (6 x 8 ½ inches, 374 pages) was published by Random House of New York, dated 1965, and research suggests this is a copy of the First Edition. The book is bound in beige cloth boards with a matte black quarter spine with gilt decorations and titles on cover and spine. It is protected by a printed paper dust jacket. It is an engaging and gritty story; if you start to read it, you probably won t put it down. Condition: This book is in very good condition. The dust jacket shows some edge wear small tears and chips, and is darkened on the edges from handling. The hard covers are dust-dulled and very lightly bumped at the corners and spine tips. The spine is a bit faded but from age, not sun or perhaps from handling. Inside, the book is unmarked and the interior pages are clean and bright throughout, without toning or foxing. Both hinges are intact and the binding is tight and sound. This book is not ex-library or a remainder. Language: ENG.…
