A first edition thus.Illustrated with eight beautiful tipped in colour plates by Dorothy Mullock, each retaining the original tissue guard.Based upon William Adlington's English language translation, and with an introduction from W. H. D. Rouse.Mullock's illustrations are noted for their distinctly modern style. In the 1920s, she designed advertising posters for London Underground, although she also drew costume designs and dancers. In the publisher's original cloth backed, paper covered boards. Back strip age toned, with bumping to back strip head and tail. Small loss of paper to front board. Board perimeters age toned. Internally, firmly bound. Pages generally clean and bright, with only the odd spot. Tears to two tissue guards. Very Good. Seller Inventory # 933F36
