Génin / Paris, Mars 1890. Bound in later faux-leather with gilt letterings on spine. Marginal short tears to last leaf, one of which is repaired. Untrimmed. A very good copy. Auguste Genin (1862-1931) was a Franco-Mexican writer, poet, photographer, ethnologist. He was a resident of Mexico and director of the Mexican National Company of Dynamite and Explosives. At the age of 17, he witnessed the death of his father and his burial at sea during a crossing of the Atlantic Ocean aboard the liner "Ville de St Nazaire." He published his collection Poèmes Aztèques in memory of his father, the opening poem of which recounts the tragic accident.
