About this Item
First edition. Frontispece drawing of the author by Rouveyre. 316pp. 1 vols. 8vo. Cyril Connolly writes of Apollinaire: "By-passing Mallarme, Apollinaire returned to simpler and fresher forms in the style of Laforgue--and Villon. His imagery is dazzling, his vitality prodigious, his poetry, like Eliot's, both memorable and musical." The author died in 1918, two years after the publication of this novel. White pictorial wrappers by Cappiello. Endpapers moderately foxed, front cover mended at hinge, shallow chip on spine and 1 1/2-inch chip on rear cover; last fifty pages of text have two small puncture marks, affecting rear cover as well, otherwise text and binding quite fresh and clean. Very good Frontispece drawing of the author by Rouveyre. 316pp. 1 vols. 8vo. Seller Inventory # 339123
