The 6th and 7th volumes of the 1st edition of The Works of the English Poets with prefaces, biographical and critical, by Samuel Johnson. Two brown leather bound hard covers with cover wear mostly confined to spine ends with 3-4cm tear of upper front hinge in volume I. Frontispiece of Butler and 331, 360 quite clean pages including Hudibras. The two volumes of Butler's poetry were published in 1779 and are in good to possibly very good condition.
