American edition, first printing, 1904. Possibly the second issue (no publisher's adverts to rear). No jacket. Large format. With eight illustrations by Maxfield Parrish. All illustrations and associated captioned tissue guards are present and in very good condition. Pictorial boards with (little faded) gold lettering to spine are very good with a few marks, few scratches, little pushing/bumping to corners, the odd small bump to edges, patchy rubbing, odd small patch of loss to top picture surface to front and a little wear (pushing/rubbing/slight fraying to the cloth) to head/tail of spine. Pages are generally clean and the binding is tight. Top of pages gilt with a few small marks/odd scratch. Rough cut page edges and bottoms. Pages bit tanned. Odd small mark/spot of foxing to page edges and bottoms. Small crease to top corner of a few pages. Occasional small mark/spot of foxing to pages. No other faults. A nice copy.
