Quarto : pp. xi (i) [3] 4-380 [2, blank] : pink silk bookmark : contemporary marbled calf : five raised bands to spine with gilt ornamentation and dark brown title panel lettered in gilt; bookplate. Lacks original portrait frontis but with 1847 portrait of Akenside laid in; the portrait leaf heavily foxed and following blank also foxed, light foxing to final blanks and endpapers; top joint starting at head (5cm); top corners bumped, lower corners bumped and abraded; neat pencil notes from previous owner to e.p.s. Mark Akenside (1721-1770) is best known for his long philisophical poem The Pleasures of Imagination, present in this collection, in its original and revised forms. Seller Inventory # 4453
