However he was an incredibly self-critical poet, and only published thirteen poems during his life. Gray was offered the position of Poet Laureate, but turned it down. He is considered to be pre-Romantic.With the bookplate of William Harden. Bound in full calf, rebacked. Externally, very smart, with light rubbing to the extremities and a few marks to boards. Bookplate to front paste down. Endpapers and blanks renewed. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean. Very Good Indeed.
