About this Item
A very handsome and early set of witty and satirical poetical anthologies from the English poet and diplomat, Matthew Prior. First collected edition. With a Memoir of the Author, edited by Thomas Evans. Adorned with a beautifully engraved frontispiece to volume one; depicting a scene from Henry and Emma. As well as a small engraved portrait of the author. From the private library of theologian and professor of philosophy, David A. Pailin. Complete in two volumes. Rebound in smart half crushed morocco bindings, with gilt lettering to the spines and cloth covered boards. Externally, both volumes are smart with little, if any, shelfwear. Internally, both volumes are firmly bound bright, and generally clean, with only some very occasional instances of spotting and offsetting to the title page. David Pailin's bookplates neatly pasted to the front pastedown of each volume. Very Good. Seller Inventory # LTH6-C-19
