First impression. Review copy, with publisher's slip laid in. Small, slim octavo (21cm); printed paper-covered boards; dustjacket; 48pp. A fine copy, with the ownershp signature of noted poet and literary scholar Bernard Bergonzi. In the original dustwrapper, unclipped (priced 9s 6d net at base of front flap), minutely rubbed at edges and with spine panel perhaps a half-shade faded, still very Near Fine. Fifth published collection by the noted Welsh poet R.S. Thomas (1913-2000), rather uncommon in this condition. A fine association, from the library of Thomas' younger contemporary Bernard Bergonzi, who like Thomas was a more-than-occasional contributor to The Critical Review. Bergonzi was a frequent commenter on Thomas' work, but find no published record of his review of this title.
