First edition of this series of comic illustrations. Octavo, two parts, original publisher's wrappers, illustrated throughout with twenty hand-colored plates, the first part having eight duplicate plates. In good condition with toning and the first part disbound. Housed in two custom folding chemises and a half morocco slipcase. George Cruikshank’s Points of Humour (1823—1824), issued in two series, is a collection of comic illustrations accompanied by brief explanatory texts that showcase the artist’s mastery of visual wit and social observation. Designed to highlight everyday absurdities and eccentricities, the plates transform commonplace incidents into humorous tableaux, blending caricature with narrative illustration.
