Bound in full leather of the period, spine lettered faintly in gilt, new paper spine label in manuscript taped on, rubs to all edges corners and surfaces [see photo]; internally moderately foxed throughout, text block square and tight, light chipping to some page edges, smudges to title page [photo]; strangely paginated: printed title page with wood-engraved vignette, Preface and Contents pages iii-xii, engraved title page, engraved map frontispiece, 12 engraved plates on six pages [6 leaves], pages 1-2, 11-500. Pages 3-10 seem to be lacking, since the text is not continuous. Also page 501 is lacking at the end. Overall a sorry example but with some remaining merit, an imperfect copy.
