Publisher's color pictorial boards, Full color pictorial endpapers. Small piece missing (1 5/8 x 7/16 inch) from rear endpaper. Original color pictorial dust jacket, very slightly worn at lower edge. A near fine copy. 48 pages, including four magnificent scenic full color pop-up plates and numerous tinted illustrations throughout the text. Babes in the Woods is a 1932 Silly Symphonies animated film. It is a re-working of the British folk tale Babes in the Wood, with some material incorporated from Hansel and Gretel by the Brothers Grimm, and the addition of a village of friendly elves (a feature not traditionally present in either tale). Noticeably the Disney ending is happier than in traditional fairy tales, helping early on the establish the tone of these children's books. King Neptune is a 1932 cartoon by Walt Disney, the second in the Silly Symphonies series produced in Technicolor. While Flowers and Trees was originally intended as a black and white cartoon, King Neptune was meant to be in colors already from the start, and was able to take full advantage of this.
