Item description from seller

Octavo; uncut, publisher's original blue paper-covered boards; half-title, xvi(xvii)18-625. Godwin was considered the father of philosophical anarchism. His work titled "Political Justice" published in 1793, became an instant best seller. The present work was Godwin's answer to Thomas Malthus's (1766-1834) famous "Essay on the Principal of Population" - it became one of Godwin's most important works on the subject. Front board detached, paper label on spine is chipped and worn; internally very clean and bright; neat owner name on half-title, dated 1821. Housed in a classy half-leather clamshell box.
