Elenco ragionato stilato dal celebre pensatore nel 1851 e che egli chiamò The Positivist Library in the Nineteenth Century, consistente di 270 opere di 140 autori formanti un'ideale biblioteca positivistica, col proposito to guide the more thouthful minds among the people in their choice of book for constant use. La lista fu pubblicata nel quarto volume (1854) della Politique Positive. Comte’s teaching, centred as it was upon the phenomena of human life, fell in with the views of those who were dissatisfied with social conditions, and anxious to promote reforms.
