A humorous work from the popular clerical writer and artist, Brother Choleric. First edition, held in original dustwrapper. Brother Choleric was a pseudonym for Downside Abbey monk, Dom Hubert van Zeller. van Zeller was a gifted sculptor and popular spiritual writer. He is mostly remembered for his caricature works and cartoons which formed this series. In original cloth binding and held in unclipped dustwrapper. Externally, excellent with minor shelfwear. Dustwrapper is very smart with minor shelfwear. A few light spots to the wraps, internally and externally. Closed tear to the bottom of front wrap. Prior owner's ticks to the rear of dustwrapper. Prior owner's stamp to the front pastedown, N Hudleston Rectory Farm Rillington. Light offsetting to endpapers. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean. Near Fine.
