Sidney Baldwin (1922-2003), a former emeritus professor of political science at California State University, taught a wide variety of courses spanning most areas of public administration, public policy, and comparative politics. He was also very instrumental in the development of the University's Masters Program in Public Administration. His first book, Poverty and Politics, won several awards and is still widely used and cited. (Cambridge University Press) Of note are the striking photographs featured in the book which depict the stark conditions in rural America during the Great Depression. As noted by the book s publisher, "This book is more than a case study of the Farm Security Administration.
