Power System Control and Stability (IEEE Press Series on Power Engineering)

"This is a classic reissue of the 1978 edition. As power systems continue to grow in size and complexity, it becomes increasingly important to understand system stability to prevent dynamic collapse and possible blackout. This book illustrates synchronous generators and their prime movers and controls as well as extensive mathematical modeling of these important items. This book is a must-have for professionals in the electric power industry as well as engineering students."

Electrical Engineering/Power Systems Power System Control and Stability Providing a comprehensive description of the dynamic condition of the power system, this classic text presents critical information on synchronous generators and their excitation systems, as well as extensive material on mathematical modeling of these critical components. You will learn how to:

• analyze the dynamic performance of interconnected power systems
• examine the characteristics of the various components of a power system during normal operating conditions and during disturbances
• explore the detailed mathematical models of system components and analyze the system behavior using the necessary computational tools

Written for practicing engineers in the electric power industry, as well as advanced students interested in power system dynamic behavior, this "must-have" guide will help you understand the dynamic performance of power systems. Also of Interest Subsynchronous Resonance in Power Systems by P.M. Anderson, Power Math Associates, Inc.; B. L. Agrawal, Arizona Public Service Company; and J. E. Van Ness, Northwestern University Sponsored by the IEEE Power Engineering Society Of particular interest to power system engineers who are considering series compensated transmission lines, this is the first book to cover the basic concepts of subsynchronous resonance and the development of equations. 1990 Hardcover 288 pp IEEE Order No. PC0247-7 ISBN 0-87942-258-0 Applied Reliability Assessment in Electric Power Systems edited by Roy Billinton, University of Saskatchewan; Ronald N. Allan, University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology, United Kingdom; and Luigi Salvaderi, ENTE Nazionale Per L’Energia Elettrica, Italy Sponsored by the IEEE Power Engineering Society Representing views of both utilities and practicing engineers, this book highlights present-day power systems design, planning, and operating criteria and techniques. In addition, it helps you make the right planning and operating decisions; resolve economic and reliability constraints; achieve a balance among generation, transmission, and distribution; and arrive at consistent standards for assessing the benefits of expansion and reinforcement. 1991 Hardcover 560 pp IEEE Order No. PC0251-9 ISBN 0-87942-264-5
