207pp. Octavo, rebacked, with original boards and portions of original red cloth backstrip, with new (20th century) red cloth backstrip with gilt title, red cloth reinforcements to corners. 5 B&W plates, some B&W illustrations in text. Soiling and wear to boards; bookplate on front pastedown, foxing throughout. Author Snell was the inventor of the dentist's chair, an illustration of which appears here as the frontispiece. The other engravings depict dentists' tools, all delicately and rather charmingly rendered.
