Early owner's calling card (Mr. Angus Wilton McLean) is paper-clipped onto the top of the front flyleaf. A sound copy with clean text. His father, Reverend Drury Lacy (1802-1884) had been a Presbyterian pastor in Raleigh before he become President of Davidson College (1855-1860). The elder Lacy accepted a number of positions during Reconstruction, and Benjamin Rice Lacy was raised without access to a college education. Nevertheless, Davidson offered him an honorary Doctor of Law degree in 1928.
