Contents clean and generally unmarked, with light age toning. Binding sound and secure. Front joint split and tender, with the front hinge starting; small chip to lower front endpaper. Moderate to heavy rubbing to boards and extremities, particularly at corners and the head and tail of spine, with fraying and small losses. Gilt lettering and decoration remain bright and attractive. Despite the binding wear, a complete and presentable example of Twain's classic historical novel.

First published in 1882, The Prince and the Pauper remains one of Mark Twain's most enduring works, telling the story of two boys of identical appearance, one a prince and the other a pauper, who exchange places and experience life from vastly different social stations.
