Dawson, Bookseller & Stationer, Montreal" The author (1806-1879) was a French political economist who, in his early years, became a convert to Saint-Simonism, a doctrine of socialism which was based on the precepts of Claude Henri de Rouvroy Saint-Simon (1760-1825) and which became for a time a near-religion among its followers.
