Conway (1913-1977) wrote this while Professor of Canon Law at Maynooth. In 1963 he became Archbishop of Armagh and primate pf all Ireland. In 1965, he was made a Cardinal. This book sets out the orthodox position of the RC church pre-Vatican II, off which Conway attended all sessions, 1962-'65.The material indeed appeared in question and answer form in The Irish Ecclesiastical Record from 1943 to 1956. The author addresses details, both major and minor, such as the "reckoning of Midnight for Eucharistic Fast", appearing as witness in criminal cases, baptism of "children of lax Catholics", consanguinity and marriage ,indulgences and excommunication.A true vade mecum in a black and white world.
