Endpapers have notations, stamps, residue, marks where envelopes removed. Blind stamp on title page. Ink stamp page 69. The proceedings of the first large-scale computer conference. Held in 1947, the conference was held at the time of the official opening of Harvard's new Computation Laboratory. The symposium, attended by over 300 people, provided one of the first forums for discussion of design, construction, operation and application of computers. It was also the first of two such conferences organized by Howard Aiken, head of the laboratory. The main focus was on technological approaches to machine computation. Also at this meeting, Samuel H. Caldwell proposed the formation of an organization for researchers engaged in the new field of electronic computing, the Association for Computing Machinery. Seller Inventory # 102645
