Marbled paper on boards, with brown leather to spine.Gilt lettering to red label on spine. Rubbing to extremities and moderate 'show through' at edges of boards. Hinges starting to crack, but secure. Inked inscription on front end paper appears contemporary. It is not fully legible, but appears to be signed 'Lauriston'. There is a small previoius owner's plate inside front cover. A Very scarce book, with two fold out maps/plans. One opposite main title page, of City of Glasgow and Suburbs, and the other is a 'Plan of the Projected Markets in Gorbals'. Both have weakening at the folds, but appear in good order. The first portion of the book, of ccvii (208) pages, forms an Introduction - Containing an epitome of the subject, and an analysis of the principles of the different Projects etc. The second portion, 0f 271 pages comprises 'An Address to the Heritors of the Gorbals Barony etc. Apart from the rubbing and cracking to hinges, the book is in a remarkably good condition for it's age.

Store description
I am a small Independent Bookseller with 35 years experience. My main field of interest is Social Military and Maritime History and Mountaineering although I am always on the lookout for the strange and unusual. I have been a member of Abebooks for many years but due to ill health have not been part of the market place for some time. I do however buy from Abebooks on a regular basis on behalf of Bookpoint in Dunoon. I have always been well known for my accurate descriptions and prompt delivery service. If anyone is looking for Maritime or Scottish History please do not hesitate to contact me.…
