This is a good history of the development of Protestantism in Michigan and is still frequently cited in most bibliographies relating to religion in the state. This is the original edition, not a reprint. Contains a number of full page portraits as well as smaller text illustrations. Also with an "Alphabetical and Chronological List of the Itinerant Preachers" of Michigan from 1809-1877 and a list of the Episocpal Methodist ministers of Michigan. A Nice gilt cover decoration and spine lettering still bright, although the cover itself is a little rubbed with wear to the top and bottom of the spine. The front inner hinge is starting. Cover tips worn at corners. Previous owner name in pencil on blank preliminary leaf, a clean and unmarked copy of a useful work. Ref: Streeter 5740 ; B&W Illustrations; 4to 11" - 13" tall; 464 pages.
