A beautifully conceived work of optimistic, philosophical science fiction by Hugo Award-winning author Becky Chambers. Set on the ecologically restored moon of Panga, the novella follows Sibling Dex, a wandering tea monk searching for greater purpose, whose journey changes upon encountering Mosscap, a robot emerging from the wilderness centuries after robots voluntarily departed human civilization. Through their conversations, Chambers explores consciousness, environmental stewardship, human needs, friendship, and the meaning of a fulfilling life. A notable contribution to contemporary hopepunk and solarpunk literature, the book combines thoughtful speculative worldbuilding with a warm, contemplative narrative. Condition: Near Fine hardcover / Very Good+ dust jacket. Attractive mustard-yellow paper-covered boards with black spine lettering; clean, well-presented surfaces and minor shelfwear at the extremities. Interior pages are clean and bright, with no markings found. The original, unclipped dust jacket retains its striking woodland illustration, with light edgewear and minor creasing, particularly around the flap folds and extremities. The original price remains printed on the front flap. Edition verification: The copyright page explicitly states "First Edition: July 2021," and the printer's number line reads 0 9 8 7 6 5 4 3 2 1, confirming the first printing. This is a particularly appealing first printing of a significant contemporary science-fiction novella. A Psalm for the Wild-Built won the 2022 Hugo Award for Best Novella, giving the original 2021 printing additional collector interest. The award is confirmed by the official Hugo Awards record. The dust jacket is also noteworthy. Illustrator Feifei Ruan created the richly detailed artwork, while Christine Foltzer handled the jacket design. Their woodland imagery, winding pathways, and small robot figure visually express the book's ecological and philosophical themes. Both contributors were credited in the publisher's original September 2020 cover announcement, making the attribution contemporary and secure. …
