Paris, Au Bureau du Populaire, August 1833- 1834, 20 issues from between 4 and 50 pages, format in-8°, bound in half morocco, marbled boards and endpapers, spine slightly discolored (binding by Monne Lattre -?-). Complete collection of the 20 ephemerical special publications of the periodical '' Le Populaire '' ( see Jean Maitron vol. I , 333). 6 issues (12, 13, 15, 17, 18, 20) were unknown to Jules Prudhommeaux (see his bibliography of Cabet , 1907, Icarie et son fondateur). The first publication '' L'affaire du Propagateur du Pas de Calais'' is here in 2nd edition (47 pp instead of 40 pp for the first ed.). Extremely rare complete collection . Etienne Cabet, 19th century utopian, precursor of communism, played an active part in French politics and even founded a utopian society in Texas , later in Ilinois, on the ruins of a Mormon settlement. He exposed his social and political theories in his book ''Voyage en Icarie'' , which gave the name '' Icariens'' to his followers.
