Chicago, IL: Reilly & Lee Co., 1932. First Edition. Large octavo (23cm); lacking jacket; 12 color plates, collated complete. Deep purple cloth-bound boards stamped in black at spine with color illustration to front cover. Page edges stained yellow, black and white illustrations throughout, including endsheets. Boards shelfworn with bumping to extremities and superficial scratching and soiling to front cover illustration; Spine creased and binding slightly cocked but firm. Previous owner name and P.O. Box number in pen to ownership page. Interior toned at margins with mild finger-smudging throughout, otherwise interior clean. Rear endsheet hinge recently professionally repaired. A Very Good or better example. The twenty-sixth volume in the Oz series, continued on by Ruth Plumly Thompson after Baum's death. This is the first of her Oz books to carry the narrative on characters entirely of her own creation. Bienvenue & Schmidt 114p.
