The cover has brown cloth with red letters. The publisher's I is on the last page. 18 chapters; b/w frontispiece. The top and bottom edges of the spine strip and five of the boards' corners are a little frayed. Three of the boards' front corners are lightly bumped. The cloth has light soiling from shelf wear and handling. The text block ends have darkened and have stains and/or foxing. The front endpaper has two, linear 1 1/4 in. stains.
