Red cloth boards, gilt title and author's name to cover and spine, publisher's device impressed on back cover. Frontispiece by Cyrus Cuneo with tissue guard. No dust jacket. Very good+ condition: previous owner's name in ink on front free endpaper, faint penciled "first edition" as well. Small smudge on back free endpaper. Corners not bumped, spine head very lightly rubbed. No markings internally, no foxing or toning. Hinges sound, textblock tight and square. Size duodecimo 7 3/8" tall, 319 pages. The discovery of a ring, given to the Queen of Sheba by King Solomon himself, launches this tale of romance and adventure set in central Africa. Featuring plotting priests, beautiful women, and daring British adventurers.
