Octavo (19.5cm); greyish-green paper-covered boards and pale yellow cloth backstrip, with printed title label mounted to spine; original dustjacket with yapped edges; [vi],[2],3-115,[3]pp. A fresh, Fine copy in Very Good dustjacket, gently spine-sunned and lightly dust-soiled, with shallow losses to spine ends and corners, a deeper chip to upper rear panel, with several tiny tears and attendant creases. Contents are comprised of two long pieces: "The Question of Our Speech," an address to the graduating class of Bryn Mawr College on June 8, 1905 (it first appeared in the August, 1905 issue Appleton's Booklovers Magazine), and "The Lesson of Balzac," first published in the Atlantic Monthly (August, 1905).
