Add to basketFirst edition of this compilation book created to benefit the Red Cross during World War II, with stories, poems, and illustrations by some of Britain's finest authors and artists. Created to benefit the Red Cross during World War II, The Queen's Book of the Red Cross is part of a tradition of benefit annuals that were tremendously successful for fundraising in the prior war. With pictures by artists including Edmund Dulac, Frank Brangwyn, Rex Whistler, and Mabel Lucie Attwell, this lovely book stands apart. Additionally, a number of the written pieces touch on contemporary events such as Jan Struther's "Mrs. Miniver makes a List" and A.A. Milne's "The General Takes Off His Helmet." Book very good, with interior fine and faint dampspotting to cloth. Dust jacket among the nicest I have ever seen for this title, in near-fine condition.
