About this Item

Description:

Octavo. 263 pages. Manly Palmer Hall was perhaps the greatest teacher on the breadth and depth of what is called occult science. He refused to be called a Guru. In spite of his vast knowledge, he maintained that humility that many of the alleged gurus in the 1960's refused to admit. Here he answers many of the questions that the serious seeker asks. His presentation of both the major aspects of the teaching from the masters of the east is also balanced with what can be learned from the higher teaching from the western world. Original copies of this work are uncommon since few survived as even the adepts read them thoroughly. Bound in green cloth spine lettering gilt but fading, pages 207-216 have some chips on outer edges not extending to the text, wear to spine ends and along the joints and corners, a few white spots on covers, stamp from the Peace of Mind bookshop and previous owner's name on front free endpaper. A good copy. Seller Inventory # 032041

Hardbound. Condition: Good. First Edition, so stated. Description: Taken from the author's preface: ''Wise and enlightened sages and scholars have lived in every period of the world's history. The opinions of the deeply learned are useful to all men. The great philosophic literature of the world contains answers to all men's questions but these answers are frequently hidden in a ponderous literature which an average person lacks the temerity to attack. It is, therefore, useful that the teachings of the Wise concerning the practical problems of life should be rendered available in a convenient and digested form. In the course of many years of lecturing and teaching a great number of questions have come to me for solution and explanation. I have classified these questions into general groups for greater convenience in answering. In the present work the question ha been so worded as to cover as many angles as possible of the subject treated. The answer are derived from the philosophies and religions of many nations and ages. The teachings of most of the world's great spiritual and intellectual leaders are incorporated in the commentary material.'' BINDING/CONDITION: green cloth; blind ruled borders; gilt spine text; Good condition; the paper is tanning; with a Fair dust jacket. 8vo (about 9.5 inches tall). 263 pages. Seller Inventory # 069088
