1st Edition (Circa 1909). Colorful illustrations throughout for added narrative context. Black cloth hardcover with gilt stamping to the spine. Pictorial binding with rubbing and scratches from shelf-wear. Cloth hardcover has rubbing, scuffing, and damp stained. Headcap and endcap are frayed with significant age-related damage from usage and storage, but does not affect readability. Corners are bumped. Bookplate on half-title page and on back endpaper with shadow transfers on reverse leaf/endpaper. Half-title page has soiling. Partial separation and closed tear at hinge of endpaper. Title page is loose from complete separation from text block, but is included. Title page has edge wear with open and closed tears. Pages have slight creases, age-related toning, and deckled edges. Pages are clean with age-related light age toning and occasional spotting, but text remains fully legible.
