Edited, with an introduction by Rendell, one of the great writers of psychological suspense, this is a wide-ranging collection of work, both fiction and non-fiction, seeking to understand what drives people to murder. Included is writing by Freud, Shakespeare, P.D. James, Capote, Camus, Poe, Sophocles, Banville, and Tolstoy that reflects Rendell's serious interest in the darker side of humanity. Boards and text are clean and unmarked, tight and square, not remaindered. The dustjacket shows only minimal edgewear, no tears, no creasing or chipping, not price-clipped. A collectable copy.
