REMINISCENCES AS OFFICE BOY AND APPRENTICE AT SWINDON RAILWAY WORKS 1944 - 1951

This mint unmarked copy is bound in green cloth covered boards with bright gilt titling to the spine, tight, white, bright and square. The unclipped dust wrapper has a small closed tear to the bottom of the front panel but still near fine condition. International postal rates are calculated on a book weighing 1 Kilo, in cases where the book weighs less then postage will be reduced accordingly. Where the book weighs more than 1 Kilo increased charges will be quoted. Renowned throughout the world as a centre for engineering excellence, the Swindon Works of the former Great Western Railway, hold a special place in the affections of rail enthusiasts. With its untimely passing in 1986, the famous phrase 'built at Swindon' will no longer adorn new rolling stock. However, the reminiscences of former Swindon apprentice, Ken Gibbs, rekindle the days of Great Western steam and the hustle and bustle of a unique institution.
