FIRST EDITION 1962, small 4to, 255 x 180 mm, 10 x 7½ inches, colour illustrated boards, 48 pp.19 full page coloured illustrations in slightly subdued colours, 3 full page black and white illustrations and many black and whites in the text. 10 well known rhymes. Tiny bump to tail of spine, pale brown stain to blank front endpaper from bookplate, now removed. Very slight signs of page turning to a few lower margins, occasional very pale fingermark. A Very Good plus copy in VG DUSTWRAPPER (dw: spine slightly tanned, tiny chips to head, tail and corners, folds rubbed). An early Briggs' title, his first volume of illustrations for nursery rhymes and not easy to find. His Mother Goose Treasury, also published by Hamilton with completely different illustrations, won him the Kate Greenaway Medal in 1966.
