The Robe is a 1942 historical novel about the Crucifixion of Jesus, written by the American minister Lloyd C. Douglas. The book explores the aftermath of the crucifixion of Jesus through the experiences of the Roman tribune. It was a massive best-seller for several years, but is best-known for its 1953 adaptation starring Richard Burton.
This is a lovely book. It is red leatherette. It has a gilt design on the cover and spine and a bound-in silk bookmark. The original owner put a bookplate on the inside front cover and then crossed out his/her name. You can either put a label over that or steam off the bookplate.
Other than that, it's in absolutely pristine condition. There are no marks in or on it; I don't believe that it's been read; it doesn't appear to have been opened.
