Green cloth, spine titled in gilt and with gilt heron vignette on upper board. Slight foxing and inner hinges slightly cracked but a very good copy. "It is my intention to treat of fishing for salmon, trout. and grayling only in the following pages, restricting myself to the consideration of these three varieties of the Salmonidae, their capture by means of the artificial fly, and the natural insects which form food for trout and grayling." A comprehensive work on flyfishing with extensive lists of trout flies, largely drawing on the patterns of Ronalds, Francis and Halford. Includes the dressings for 39 salmon flies (including three of "Mr. Kelson's Exaggerations"), and fourteen sea-trout flies. .
