ROMANCE OF ROMAN VILLAS 1909 50+ PLATES

ROMANCE OF ROMAN VILLAS BY ELIZABETH W. CHAMPNEY 1909 ILLUSTRATED 50+ PLATES. I am pleased to offer a very well illustrated book titled: Romance of Roman Villas by Elizabeth W. Champney. This thick medium-sized hard cover book (6 ¼ x 8 ½ x 1 ¾ inches, 393 pages plus 5 pages of publisher s adverts) was published by G.P. Putnam s Sons of New York and London dated 1909 and the Second Printing of the First Edition. The book is bound in light gray boards with elaborate decorations and gilt titles on cover and spine (albeit a bit worn at this point). The book is very well illustrated with 8 plates from photogravures with captioned tissue-guards and another 44 b&w plates. Condition: This book is in very good condition. Inside a former owner has left her penciled name on the front endpaper but that is the only mark I found in the book. There is some foxing in the early pages, up to the Frontispiece but fortunately it does not penetrate the full book. The interior pages and plates are generally clean and bright. Both hinges are intact, and the binding is tight and sound. This book is not ex-library or a remainder.…
