FIRST EDITION (1889), small 4to, 210 x 155 mm, 8¼ x 6 inches, cream boards, coloured illustrations to upper cover, adverts to lower cover, 48 pages. Frontispiece and 11 exquisite colour plates. About a dear little toddler who frightens his family to death by wandering off into the countryside with his pet cat and his woolly dog. Head and tail of spine and corners very slightly worn, 5 mm (¼") piece of surface paper missing at 1 corner, spine paper in unusually good condition, with only 10 mm (½") of surface missing, affecting only 'THE'. Boards clean and bright, endpapers browned, couple of margins faintly marked. Contents very nice. Very good plus.
