Early, possibly first US edition. Fredrick A. Stokes Co., n.d. (~1910); x, 126pp. + ten tipped-in photo plates (one has photos on both sides). Plate VIII is detached but present, binding is otherwise firm and fully intact; slight forward lean to spine; previous owner inscriptions on front paste-down and end page; Light wear to edges of red cloth boards, gilt/black titling remains bright and bold on front board, dulled but legible on backstrip; light, small black spotting on front board; text is very good throughout. No dust jacket, possibly as issued. The 1924 edition of this title (Cambridge UP, 1924) is apparently a complete rewrite, could make an interesting comparitive study. Ships same or next business day from Dinkytown in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
