Octavo Size [approx 15.5 x 22.8cm]. Near Fine copy in Very Good dustjacket. Dustjacket is now protected in our purpose-made clear archival plastic sleeve. A nice copy. Dj is excellent with some light age-toning the only issue. Illustrated in Black & White by George Cruikshank and others. 319 pages. During the years 1819-1822 a "pamphlet war" was wages between the radical William Hone and the Establishment, and it stands out as a lively and entertaining episode in the generally dreary arena of political controversy. Hone was a satirist of exceptional skill and with the illustrations of George Cruikshank the pamphlets became a source of immense amusement to the public. Robust, professional packaging and tracking provided for all parcels.
