Radio Science Observing, Vol. 1

Among the hottest topics right now are those related to radio: radio astronomy, propagation studies, whistler and spheric hunting, searching for solar flares suing very low frequency (VLF) radio, and related subjects. Author Joseph Carr lists all of these topics under the term RadioScience Observing, a term he has coined to cover the entire field.
In this book you will find chapters on all of these topics and more. The main focus of the book is the amateur scientist who has a special interest in radio. It is also designed to appeal to amateur radio enthusiasts, shortwave listeners, scanner band receiver owners, and other radio hobbyists. RadioScience Observing is a useful adjunct to an already thriving hobby.
Topics include:
Radio astronomy
Radio receiver systems
Radio signal propagation
Signals, noise and reception
Whistler and spheric hunting
Solar flare and S.I.D. hunting
Observing radio phenomena during eclipses
VLF receivers
Low frequency, medium wave and shortwave receivers
Loop antennas for VLF reception
meteor detection by radio
Using a Geiger counter to detect solar flares
Computer-based recording
Spectrum analysis of signals
And much more!!
This book also comes with a CD-ROM containing numerous examples of radio frequencies so you can learn to identify them. It also contains detailed information about the Sun, planets and other planetary bodies so you can learn more about the natural radio signal generators of our solar system and beyond.
