London: Hutchinson, 1967. First Edition, First Printing. Very Good+/Very Good+. First Edition in original dust jacket. Clean black cloth boards with gold lettering on spine. No fraying or bumping. Binding is tight and square, hinges are sound - no cracking. Pages are clean - previous owner name address and date neatly penned on front fixed endpaper under dj flap. Illustrated with glossy black and white photographs by Laurie Kaye. 232 pages. Dust jacket is clean, unchipped, price clipped on front inside flap, very slight edge wear. Nice photo on rear panel of the author. Enclosed in new archival quality removable mylar covr. At sixty, G. W. Stonier decided that instead of putting his feet up he would cut loose and set off, in a converted Land Rover, with his wife Pat to traverse Africa from Cairo to the Cape "while there was still time." Pat Stonier was the only woman ever to have drive across th Nubian desert's uncharted western route - a record that can never be bettered, for most of that route now lies beneath the waters of the great Aswan dam.
