1st English Edition of this collection of Rilke's poems, covering a period from 1906-26, translated and with an introduction by JB Leishman - being based on the German edition (Gedichte 1906 bis 1926) of Ernst Zinn, who assiduously chronicled Rilke's miscellaneous poetry during the period after the publication of Neue Gedichte in 1907/08; publishing date of 1957 appears to title page, with no other publishing details (the Hogarth Press designation of a true first, as per Zempel); maroon cloth boards with gilt titling to spine; small bookshop label to front pastedown, former owner's name to front endpaper; endpapers, prelims and text block foxed, o.w.
